Panama Kicks Off Christmas Season With Parade

Panama Kicks Off Christmas Season With Parade

Panama City holds its annual Christmas parade on the waterfront at 5:00 p.m. today, ending its extravagant celebration with fireworks at 7:30 p.m.

Access to Balboa Avenue and three waterfront roads, known as Cinta Costera I, II and III, will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at noon today until 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Panama City officials have urged visitors to use the subway and city buses to help ease traffic congestion near the parade route.

The parade route features nine entrances, six exits, and eight food courts, as well as five tents for emergency medical care.

Parking will be nearly impossible to find downtown. If you drive to the event, your best bet would be to park at the Albrook Mall parking lot and take the subway to either the Loteria or the Santo Tomas station and walk to the waterfront.
